Actually this could become a borderline rant.
I wasn't fortunate enough to be able to represent SA in the crowds of supporters at Twickenham on Saturday for the rugby match between SA and England. I chose to get cosy in a local pub in Southfields and was ecstatic and so proud of our boys for playing well and managing to win away from home.
I was absolutely appalled to see at least 4 old oranje-blanje-blou (orange, white and blue) South African flags as well as the Transvaal Vierkleur (4 colour) flag flown high and clear in "support" of our team. These flags are fully respresentative of the apartheid era and the atrocoties and injustices faced by the majority of South Africans before 1994.
I never once stood in that pub (surrounded by English supporters) and felt embarrassed about being South African due to the Springboks performance or attitude. Then the UK cameras focussed on these idiots in the crowds proudly displaying their support for the old regime.
How dare these people associate themselves with our national rugby team and national pride?!
To all those supporters: I don't care how long you have lived in the UK or what your reasons are for being here, you have no place associating our international ambassadors with the apartheid past in this way, or sending these kinds of messages out to the international community. Keep yourselves and your flags at home behind your curtain of ignorance.

I was in the same pub in Southfields for that very game and neither felt proud or embarressed by our fellow South Africans showing the old flag.
What right do any of us have to prescribe to our fellow South Africans what is seemed to be accepatable and what is not.
I beleive that the appearance of the old flag at the rugby game is in protest to what is currently happening in South Africa with regard to crime.
South Africa is not a unified country, far from it; any South African that believes this clearly does not know the meaning of the word.
These flags don't represent the Apartheid regime because they are flags of the old Boer Republics. The Boer Republics were not racist to Africans or any other race. The Apartheid regime came from the Afrikaner (the British introduced the idea and started the segregation earlier) Government. Afrikaner and Boer is not the same and represent 2 entirely different people (Boere did come from Afrikaners but moved away from the Cape and most of them lived in the far eastern borders of the Cape before the Great Trek so were already different from the Afrikaner in the way they acted). If these people wave their Boer Republic flags i am proud of them, because they are proud of their Boer heritage, their nation and that their forefathers fought for the Protection of their nation. Which didn't work out in the second Boer war since the Boere had to surrender since most of the Children and women of their population were dieing in the English concentration camps and their farms were being burned. Oh and on the topic of the war, you know the Africans in the Boer Republics supported and some even helped the Boers and the British ended up putting these Africans in concentration camps as well where many of them died.
So these people aren't racist, and i am sick and tired of people accusing the Boere of being the racist that made Apartheid. The Boere is a minority of the White South Africans and the Coloureds, and Africans that lived in the Boer Republic and helped, lived and worked the "Boere" are part of the Boer nation as well.
The old flag is the only true flag for south africa.
The new flag is a design aimed to advance the lie of a rainbow nation. Look at kenya and zimbabwe. That is where sa is heading.
We love opur flag and no amount of political correct crap from a wet behind the ears arsehole like you will change thast...
We fought wars and died under that flag.
What do you do under the new sa anc kuck flag? Pay tax to your blackl masters so they dont butcher you lot like old mugabe !!!!!!!!
